Last weekend we made a visit to Healdsburg's SHED, an amazing and inspiring store, garden center, restaurant, gourmet food supply and workshop space that we've been dying to check out. It is perfectly designed and curated, and I didn't want to leave! We have to make it back soon for a Sunday Supper in their gorgeous upstairs meeting room, The Grange.

And Pumpkins Too!

Last weekend we continued our Autumn adventures in Petaluma at the Tolay Fall Festival. Arrow picked the heaviest pumpkin he could find, and I made my way through the pumpkin patch feeling like I had a pumpkin of my own hiding under my dress...

Apple Picking in Petaluma

Even though we are enjoying our last few days of summer weather here in SF, I am definitely starting to feel ready for Fall, my favorite season of the year. Yesterday we met up with some friends at the Chileno Valley Ranch in Petaluma for some apple picking, and came home with enough apples to keep us full of applesauce, pies and cakes all season long. We threw together a quick and easy apple crisp last night and polished off quite a bit of it between the three of us, along with some homemade honey and graham cracker ice cream that Derek and Arrow had made not too long ago. Next weekend... pumpkins!

Gathering Inspiration: Quilts

Baby quilts I have no problem with, but for some reason the idea of piecing together a quilt for our queen-size bed is so daunting.... I swore I'd make one this year though, so I'd better get started! Peeked around a little online and am starting to feel inspired again- hopefully I'll settle on some fabrics and colors in the next week.

Clog Lady

September 23, 2013 Lauren

A friend called the other day as I was chasing after Arrow on a busy city street, and the first thing she said to me was: "You're not wearing clogs, are you?" Ok, maybe it's not the smartest thing for a lady who is 6+ months pregnant to be running down the street in gold clogs, but they've been part of my uniform for years, and I'm already looking forward to buying a pair for Winter...

I remember the clogs I wore in elementary school and the time I kicked them off while playing "Mother May I" with a friend, only to have one fly through the air and hit her right in the head.... I remember the brown suede pair I had in high school, the pink (!) pair I wore in college, and the black Danskos I used to trek around NYC in when we lived there.  A couple years ago I visited the "Clog Lady" during one of her visits to SF and got fitted for a pair of custom clogs, and this year I'm finally ready for a pair of clog boots. (I realize that the heels on all of these are too high for me to be wearing right now, but I'll put 'em on my wish list for after the baby is born.)  Long live clogs!
