We've got so many wonderful things to share this Holiday Season that we thought it would be fun to create a series of Curiosity Shoppe Gift Guides. First up is San Francisco Treats, which features select items designed and made by our very talented Bay Area friends.
1. Scientist by day, artist extraordinaire by night (and weekends, we assume), Jessica Polka is the talent behind this remarkable crocheted octopus in a jar ($70). 2. Our friend Chris of Yellow Owl Workshop never ceases to amaze us with the beauty and diversity of the things she makes. These gorgeous pendant necklaces ($44) are the most recent addition to her line. 3. Our pal Jason Munn designs the coolest rock posters you've ever seen. They've been collected for the first time in The Small Stakes ($24.95), an amazing monograph of his work. 4. In addition to being the Postmistress of the World's Smallest Post Service, Lea Redmond makes delightfully fun and unique items like these Wiggly Eye Dice ($12). 5.The Thing is a quarterly art subscription service created by Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan. Amazing artists in their own right, they work with other fantastically creative folks to create limited-edition, functional works or art. Issue #11 ($60) was the brainchild of another favorite artist of ours, Chris Johanson, and features a set of beautiful hand-crafted mugs. 6. Did you know there are beautiful prize ribbons ($10/each) for coming in 9th? What about 16th, or 27th? Neither did we until designer Heather Phillips from Schooled showed us otherwise. 7. Lorena Siminovich is a wonderful artist and friend whose work is featured in our Shoppe gallery this month. She created dozens of unbelievably beautiful hand-turned and painted wooden dolls ($140-170) for her show Happy Town Menagerie. 8. These super sleek laser-cut bamboo earrings ($40) are made right here in the Bay Area by the very talented Yvonne Hung.
